Happy Holidays from Dash

Hi everyone!

I hope all of you are getting into the holiday spirit!  Lot’s of candy canes, tacky sweaters, and the big man himself….Santa!!!

We are all enjoying some time home from the road.  It’s really nice to see family that we haven’t seen in a while and to catch up with what’s been happening over the last year.

In the spirit of the season…..Here’s your question:

What is one of your funniest Christmas memories!?

Please share!

I remember singing “Silent Night” in Spanish (Noche de Paz) as a solo when I was in the fifth grade. I sang that song over and over for several performances and I got so sick of it. Every year, my best friend calls me and starts singing that song in her most nasally voice. LOL That was like 20 years ago. I love that. :D

I don’t have a funny Christmas memory, and that in itself I think is funny………….
    What’s yours?

Years and years ago, my dad wrapped these 4 huge gift boxes for the 4 of us. Me, sis, 2 lil bros. So… we freaked out and was waaaaay too excited about it… Then when we opened it, we’ve discovered rotten oranges inside. Then my lil bro Josh, the youngest, received nothing but his worn out slippers. When my brothers started crying, I cried too and so did my sister! We went all berserk and y’know cried big time! Haha! Just imagine 4 lil kids! 4 cry babies! The real gifts were given after that short moment of craziness which my dear father enjoyed so much…

That my friends was the origin of our family’s infamous annual Secret Santa Prank. XD

Let me think, Let me think……………………………………My funniest Christmas Memory, now that is a hard one Dash. Over the twenty christmases I have wonderfully gotten to enjoy, there are way to many memories just to pick one. But if I had to pick just one, it would be the one when I was 8 years old. All my family decided to go to my grandfather’s ranch (this was the first of many and thankfully not the last), and it had snowed so much that year, grandpa had to use his tractor to plow the snow. On Christmas morning before we could open presents we had to go outside to help with the cows (now that was a pain in the butt, trying to get cows to come in when there was 5 feet of snow on the ground). Before we went in, my grandfather got all of us kids in the barn and grabbed a piece of wood. He decided we needed to have some fun before we went back inside. We went to a hill close by and grandpa went down first. He tried to go down like the wood was a snowboard. Let’s just say that didn’t work out to well. He broke his arm in three places and we couldn’t have christmas until he came back from the hospital. And by that time it was probably 4pm. But once he got home we opened presents and got to decorate his cast. Let’s just say that he never did that again, and my grandma always gave him a hard time about it after that.

Unfortunely this will be the 3 Christmas without my grandfather, and the holidays get really hard for my family and our emotions. But we have decided to not dwell on the past and have fun in the present. This year we are going back up there and we are planning to have lots of fun. I’m looking forward to what the Christmas memory is going to be this year. Let’s just hope it doesn’t involve any hospitals.

funniest memory…… instead of santa, a squirrel came down our chimney one year 2 hours before family was supposed to arrive for the christmas party. It created havoc going in our christmas tree and leaving sooty footprints everywhere! My dad got it out eventually and it made a good story but my mom was NOT happy. fun times :p
